I print mostly on glossy or baryta paper. From what I've read, it seems to be a great choice for low-volume users who don't need 17" wide and don't print a lot on thick matte papers. I don't need a 17" wide printer anymore.įor these reasons, I'm thinking of replacing the SC P600 with a PIXMA Pro-100. I'm not printing nearly as much these days, and I'll often go weeks between prints. If all various sources are printing the exact same overlay tones.you would think its internal.I've had an Epson SC P600 for the past few years, but it just died. Process of elimination, it seems to be much a firmware issue for sure. I removed the ink cartridges and print head.Ĭleaned and reloaded and all of a sudden the proper ink levels (of near empty) suddendly displayed correctly? Though the prints continues to be dark overlay colored. Prolem 2x is that this unit already shipped with 1.30.

Canon states a firmware upgrade to ver 1.30 will solve this problem. Update: I just noticed along the way that despite utilizing a majority of the ink of my cartridges, the ink levels have not moved. looks like 1.20 and or 1.10 is working fine.

This is what my printer all ready came with. (forgot)įrom what I was told through CANON there very well could be an issue with the firmware 1.30 I am documenting every step on video which I will publish when I am done testing.

I did see a downloadable "Latest" firmware on the canon site! But I did not install that. But again I downloaded the v-1.1 one and not issues at all. Black is jet black and white is just barely below the paper base color and density.

I also printed of a 20 step Black to White wedge and every step is clearly discernible.

I also installed it on my Laptop running WINDOWS 8.1 and again, none of the problems you are seeing.īoth screens are calibrated with a simple Colormunki Photo.īoth prints done through the Plugin and using full color managed work flow resulted in what I would describe a perfectly neutral and correct density prints. I have NONE of the problems you are describing.

The firmware version 1.030 seems to be of issue here. Hopefully CANON will take this serioulsy and fix this issue. These tests were done with all three manual color options! (ICM / Driver Matcing / No Color Management)Īll prints using Canon Photo Glossy II with Canon Official Ink CLI42 I understand color tweaks here, calibration is important for exact color matching but this should not be happening.Īfter various round of test prints from various sources, i have posted the results below. There is NO reason why the simplest of prints should come out anywhere not near the original. This issued was fixed by lowering the INK SATURATION in the printing preferences but unfortunately, there is NO option available for this and simply reccomendation ignored. This issue was reminscent of the same DARK PRINTING issues experienced years ago with CANON MARK PRO 9500. Though finally, after speaking to a HIGH LEVEL supervisor, I was told this issue was just presented to the software developers.and YES this is an issue! Its been a battle trying to get past the tech support agents hoping that this issue would be sent to the programmers.

Until now, they have been pretty ignorant pushing the fix as only to use their software. I have been on the phone with CANON tech support for about one month straight now banging their walls down with this issue. There is indeed a MAJOR MAJOR malfunction happening with the drivers of this printer.įor all of you who are experiencing DARK TINTING OVERLAY prints, you are NOT doing anything wrong.
